Women Build Location: 110 S. Main St. Agencies: Portals: TCU Categories:
TCU is again a major sponsor and participant in Habitat's 2008 Women Build Project, with more than 30 of our employees participating in the build. TCU has been a major supporter of this event for six years. This year's build will be taking place the week of September 6-13. Our volunteers will spend time drywalling, siding, roofing, painting, hanging cabinents, landscaping and/or whatever else is asked of them to complete building this home in just seven days. This year's site is located at 1247 Howard Street, just east of South Bend Avenue. Drive by after September 13 and see what a week's worth of hard work by a group of local women volunteers can accomplish! TCU thanks the participants for representing TCU in the community.
Center for the Homeless/Junior Achievement Location: 110 S. Main St. Agencies: Portals: TCU Categories:
TCU has teamed up with Junior Achievement to offer three courses at the Center for the Homeless. Our plan is to kick off this partnership by offering the NEFE Financial Planning Program to residents at the Center who are young adults. This class will be offered during business hours. The second class is the Economics for Success Course, which will be offered to a group of school aged residents in the evening (6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.). Another course will be determined at a later date as a follow up to the courses mentioned above. Each class would meet once a week for approximately six weeks.
A training session will be provided by Junior Achievement to go over the course material with both TCU and Center for the Homeless representatives. Our goal is to have two or three volunteers to teach each of the courses. This will allow you to schedule a couple of classes and not require you to participate weekly.
