To provide children who lack sufficient adult support, with the opportunities and skills necessary to develop positive personal growth. This is essentially acheived through one-to-one relationships with volunteer mentors, and maintained with supervision and support services provided by the professional staff of the agency.
In a world as complex, and with the confusing demands found in our society today, the simplicity of a caring and sharing relationship between a child and an adult is an important and vital part in helping children grow to productive adulthood. Becoming a Big Brother or Sister provides the opportunity to become that "special person" in someone's life. In our own lives, each of us was touched by someone-other than our parents, who broadened our horizons and brought a little magic into our lives. Our Big Brothers and Big Sisters do the same for the children in our program. And they are both forever changed by the experience.
Volunteer mentors meet one-to-one with a child 2-4 times monthly, either in the community or school setting. Volunteers work with the professional staff of the agency in helping each child reach their full potential. Training and support services provided.
No fees are charged to the families who receives our services. Our agency is supported by the community through donations. If you would like to make a donation, please call our office at 574 232 -9958.
